At the end of World War II, Berlin divided into four occupation zones that acted like a miniature version of the rest of Germany. The French, British, Americans and Soviets all put their marks on their quarters of the city with their cultural traditions influencing these sectors. Amazingly, Berlin remained under official occupation until 1990, and troops finally left in 1994.
This is the story of Berlin, from the Battle of Berlin in 1945 to the final withdrawal of Allied forces in 1994. These six films use incredible and often unseen archive footage from Berlin's local news services, along with interviews with eye-witnesses and experts. The six films all focus on a different aspect of Berlin's history.
